Paul Finebaum analyzes CFP outlook for Tennessee, Georgia after Week 12 clash
One of the biggest games in Week 12 was the battle between Tennessee and Georgia that saw the Bulldogs pull away for the 31-17 victory. Tennessee entered the game with only 1 loss, and got off to a 10-0 lead early.
However, Georgia took control of the game and scored 31 of the game’s 38 final points to get the win. Both teams are now 8-2 on the season with 2 losses in conference play.
Even though they are have the same record, Paul Finebaum thinks that Tennessee is in a far worse spot than Georgia and needs chaos to happen.
“As far as Tennessee, I think they’re in a really bad spot right now,” Finebaum said. “They’ll benefit from chaos, which I think we will get, but that’s what they need. They lost the wrong game, even though it was predicted going in. Georgia I think is in a fantastic position and I think after Saturday night look like one of the most dangerous teams in the country.”
Georgia on the other hand, is in better shape because of a more difficult schedule. The Bulldogs have played 3 road games against teams currently ranked in the top 9 in Alabama, Texas and Ole Miss.
Finebaum was able to talk to Kirby Smart before the game, and the confidence that Smart showed convinced him Georgia was in a great spot.
“Talking to Kirby Smart Friday night, I am not a betting man but I had never been more confident of Georgia winning after being around him, hearing that he had to say and trying to break the code,” Finebaum said. “He was extremely confident, he was much different than I have seen him in a long time. He loves the position this team was in. And I think the whole thing with the CFP committee, I’m not saying Georgia suddenly overcame the mistakes of the season because of that, but I think they’d gotten into the right mindset and played a team that is extremely good on one side of the ball and somewhat limited other than maybe at RB on the other side.”
Both teams are in action in Week 13 as Georgia hosts Massachusetts while Tennessee will be in action against UTEP.
It wouldn’t be an issue if UT had taken care of business against Arkansas. Hoping for some miracles in the next 2 weeks!
Hoping for some miracles since 1998
There, fixed it for you
I can’t wait to see Devin Willock celebrating when you guys win the national championship this year…….
Oh wait………
What a miserable, low-life f*ck you are, a fan of the biggest clusterf*ck program in college football
every season you bunch of clowns win a few games against some mid-tier teams to start the season then you all start proclaiming SEC championships, Heisman trophies, CFP appearance, a Natty, a Superbowl! Then, you get curb stomped by UGA and at least a couple of other teams- happens every season.
Then after writing all those checks UT can’t cash, carrying decades of ridicule and buutthurt, all you’ve got are tasteless, rude, attempted jokes about a teenager getting killed
This is one of the most despicable and disgusting posts I’ve seen here in a long long time. If you feel you have to make fun of someone dying, you are POS. FOMF
That’s classless even for you.
“It wouldn’t be an issue if UT had taken care of business against Arkansas”
“Taking care of business” against a 5-5 team that is the SEC’s 11th ranked team, ain’t that a peach.
That’s UT in a nutshell over the last 20-30 years, if only UT had taken care of mediocracy they could back-doored their way in something.
Tennessee now needs one of the following…
Any SEC team to lose a third…unlikely
Indiana to get blown out by OSU…possible
Notre Dame to stumble…possible
If one happens then they need to win out and they are in. If that doesn’t then they are more than likely out even though one could argue the loss to Arkansas pails in comparison to Ole Miss loss to Kentucky. Ole Miss seems to be peaking though.
Hopefully you get in with the chaos that will likely happen.
UGA is by far the best 2-loss team in college, probably better than any of the 1-loss teams as well.
Barely loss to #7 Bama at Bama and a road loss to a #9 Ole Miss team that is peaking. Beat the #1 Texas, #7 Tennessee and #14 Clemson.
Dealing with numerous injuries to key players the Dawgs have been through the fire, wounded and scarred, to heell and back. Now the Dawgs have been tempered, honed and polished, tried and tested and are on the mend.
The Dawgs are ready to eat.
Not rocket science. Tenn. is out, UGA is in. Bank it.
Tennessee beating Vandy isn’t a given
UT should just be happy they aren’t playing USCar this season, this Gaemc0ck team would probably hang 70-80 points on them
True. Even if they win out, I don’t think it will be enough. SEC is probably only getting 4 in: Ole Miss, UGA, ALA., Texas.
Pete: “… Georgia I think is in a fantastic position… trying to break the code…”
It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to break the code, to figure out why Georgia is in a fantastic position…
for the rest of the season, regular season and in the playoff, every game Georgia will play will be played on their home turf…
see, broke the code!
