OFFENSE: A-

There weren’t any big, explosive plays from Georgia against Missouri. The longest play all game came on an 18-yard run by Nick Chubb and quarterback Hutson Mason’s longest pass went just 14 yards. Nonetheless, UGA’s offense was dominant, physically bowling over the Missouri defense. Nick Chubb shouldered the load, carrying the ball 38 times for 143 yards and one touchdown in just his first collegiate start. Mason made all of the plays he needed to make, including a beautiful touchdown pass to the back corner of the end zone to Michael Bennett. More importantly, Mason didn’t turn the ball over. Georgia obviously misses Todd Gurley in the backfield, but with Chubb’s performance, there may not be as significant of a drop off as originally expected.

DEFENSE: A

As impressive as Chubb and the rest of the offense was on Saturday, Georgia’s defense set the tone early for the entire game. Constant pressure on quarterback Maty Mauk made it extremely tough for Missouri’s offense to develop any sort of rhythm. The offensive line was incapable of fending off Jordan Jenkins, Leonard Floyd and the rest of the Georgia front seven. Georgia also took advantage of some errant passes from Mauk, picking off four passes. Defensive back Quincy Mauger was the man of the hour with a two-interception day. Georgia’s secondary isn’t very strong, but if the Bulldogs keep getting pressure with their pass rush, the opposing teams won’t have much opportunity to expose the UGA defensive backs.

SPECIAL TEAMS: B+

For the most part, it was a pretty ho-hum day for Georgia’s special teams. Nothing spectacular and UGA’s Marshall Morgan converted on both of his field goal attempts from 47 yards and 29 yards out.

COACHING: A+

Georgia’s 34-0 shutout win was arguably Mark Richt’s best coaching job during his career at UGA. Faced with an incredibly tough challenge once news of Gurley’s suspension broke, Richt’s team showed great poise Saturday. They came out and hit Missouri in the mouth. The usual UGA physicality was there sans Gurley and it looked like the Bulldogs hadn’t missed a beat. Give credit to Richt and his staff on fantastic coaching job.

OVERALL: A

In the face of adversity, Georgia arguably played its best game of the season. The Bulldogs now are in the SEC East driver’s seat and in position to make another trip to Atlanta. There’s no official decision yet on how long Gurley will be out, but if it’s for an extended period of time, it certainly appears that Georgia is more than capable of winning the SEC East without him.
