Georgia’s support staff will reportedly feature some new faces this year. Jake Rowe of Dawgs247 is reporting that two new coaches, Rod Ojong and Laiu Moeakiola, are joining Kirby Smart’s staff.
Ojong was Furman’s cornerbacks coach for the 2019 season. In 2018, he held the same position at Austin Peay. The Governors faced UGA that season, with the Bulldogs winning 45-0. Ojong is familiar with Georgia defensive line coach Tray Scott. The two were on staff at North Carolina during the 2016 season when Ojong was a graduate assistant and Scott was UNC’s defensive line coach.
Moeakiola comes over as a former graduate assistant at TUC. He played linebacker at Arizona State and for two seasons (2012 and ’13) was coached by current Georgia defensive coordinator Dan Lanning.
Rowe adds that former Georgia linebacker Jarvis Jones is expected to be on the staff again as an undergraduate assistant.
