RJ Young is in the process of ranking his favorite prospects for the 2024 NFL Draft with the 2023 NFL Draft officially wrapped up and the college football season down the road.

When it comes to the tight end position, Georgia superstar Brock Bowers is Young’s pick as the No. 1 prospect in next year’s draft. While Bowers is just a junior and would need to forego his senior year of eligibility, there is nothing left for Bowers to prove in the college ranks.

As for an NFL comparison, Young selected George Kittle as a comp for Bowers. Beyond that, Young struggled to find words to adequately portray what Bowers has accomplished in his two seasons at Georgia:

“I think the comp here is San Francisco 49ers TE George Kittle,” said Young. “The reigning Mackey Award winner? Sure. A first-team All-American? I guess. Here’s the thing: every college football team that Brock Bowers has played on has won the national championship, and he’s been the best offensive player on it as a freshman, as a sophomore.

“Brock Bowers is so good that even Kirby Smart said ‘If we have to throw the ball, throw it to him.’ And not only that, Kirby Smart says ‘If we have to run the ball, can we run it end around to Brock?'”

Outlook for Brock Bowers

In two seasons playing alongside Stetson Bennett, Bowers posted just shy of 2,000 yards from scrimmage with 24 total touchdowns. He had an unbelievable 13 receiving touchdowns as a true freshman before posting 10 touchdown touchdowns (3 rushing touchdowns) as a sophomore in 2022.

Bowers will be a massive part of the Georgia offense once again in 2023, and arguably even more so with a new starting quarterback for the Bulldogs. With his ability to break plays open and get tough yardage, Bowers should be the perfect security blanket and a matchup nightmare for a young QB to target this season.
