While the top of the 2018 NFL Draft board is likely to be full of quarterbacks, the best prospect in the upcoming selection process may very well be Georgia’s Roquan Smith.

Coming off a season in which he led the Bulldogs to the SEC Championship, a Rose Bowl win and nearly a National Championship title, not to mention individual honors such as being named SEC Defensive Player of the Year and landing on countless All-American/All-SEC selections, Smith’s stock has never been higher.

That’s an opinion shared by ESPN NFL analyst Louis Riddick. Regarded as one of ESPN’s most respected analyst, the former NFL player and scout holds Smith in the highest of regards with the 2018 draft process just over a week away.

Of course, Smith is very unlikely to be the first selection in the upcoming draft, that has more to do with the need many franchises have to solve their issues under center and less to do with attempting to acquire the best prospect in the draft. Don’t be surprised if the franchises that reach for a quarterback one day soon regret passing on Smith.
