The head coaching search continues in Fayetteville as the Razorbacks have now gone nearly a month without a full-time coach to replace Chad Morris.

After flirting with Lane Kiffin, the FAU coach landed at SEC West rival Ole Miss. Following that news, Appalachian State’s Elijah Drinkwitz has been rumored to be a candidate for the Razorbacks but now the latest emerging name is one very familiar to Razorback fans.

According to multiple reports, Georgia offensive line coach Sam Pittman is the current target of the Arkansas coaching search. Pittman previously served as Arkansas’ offensive line coach under Bret Bielema but left Fayetteville when offered the same job on Kirby Smart’s first Georgia staff. Pittman has family in Arkansas and owns property in the Natural State.

If the two sides can agree to a contract, there’s a good chance Pittman is Arkansas’ head coach by Monday.

How is Kirby Smart taking the news that he may be losing his best recruiter? The Georgia coach was asked about Pittman on Sunday.

Losing assistant coaches to promotions is nothing unusual to Smart’s Georgia program but given the issues the program has had all season on offense and the uncertainty regarding the direction of where the offense will go heading into 2020, losing Pittman could be a tough pill to swallow.
