Stetson Bennett shares how he learned he was a Heisman Trophy finalist
Stetson Bennett is in New York soaking up the experience as a Heisman Trophy finalist.
The Georgia quarterback discussed the experience with reporters on Friday, and revealed how he first heard the news. For starters, he was in Arkansas accepting the Burlsworth Trophy.
“My little brother told me and came up and grabbed my arm, and I could see it in his face and I knew what it was,” Bennett said, per Jordan D. Hill. “I knew of course when the nomination was coming out. Of course, I’d like to go because that would be pretty cool. So when he told me, it’s hard to have a thought. It was tough to take it in because I was in the middle of the Burlsworth, and I don’t want to celebrate some other award while I’m there. But it’s the Heisman Trophy, right? A lot of emotion.”
Bennett added that being in New York for the Heisman Trophy ceremony is a reflection that Georgia has a really good team and that a lot of people contributed to the production that Bennett and the offense enjoyed.
“It’s crazy. it’s special,” Bennett said about the Heisman experience. “I’m excited to see what this whole thing is. I’m excited to get to know Max, Caleb and CJ a little bit better.”
