Sticking with Stetson? Fans wonder what it will take for Georgia to make a QB change
The Georgia Bulldogs are the No. 5 team in the country and are 4-1 overall. They just finished off a 14-3 win over Kentucky that wasn’t pretty, but was never in doubt.
Still, QB Stetson Bennett IV didn’t have his best game, throwing for 131 yards, 0 touchdowns and 2 interceptions in the victory.
Now, Georgia fans are starting to wonder how long Bennett’s leash will be moving forward. What will it take to have coach Kirby Smart make a change to JT Daniels, or D’Wan Mathis, or even Carson Beck?
Here were some of the tweets questioning whether Bennett should continue to be the starter:

Man if Kirby trots Stetson out there next week I might cut it off

If Stetson starts next week it’s a wrap.

Can JT Daniels really be that bad at practices??
Stetson. Bennett. Can. Not. Win. A. Championship.

Dwan Mathis gets pulled for 1 int. Stetson 5 in 2 games and we make excuse after excuse.
Kirby can’t handle a QB situation— Scott (@ScottBass) October 31, 2020
What will Kirby Smart do? It’s of the utmost importance, as the potential deciding game in the SEC East race takes place next weekend in Jacksonville as the Bulldogs take on Florida.
There has to be something seriously wrong with every other QB on the team for Stetson to still be the starter and the one who finishes every game. I would argue Mathis played equally as bad as Bennett has the past two games for those 2 quarters against Arky, but at least he can throw it deep to keep defenses honest. And we now know that Arky has a legitimate defense so I think he should at least get another shot. And I guess we’ll just have to assume that Daniels is still too hurt to play because there’s no reason other than that he shouldn’t be playing. On the plus side, our running game is looking just as good as it did during the Bama game until we stopped running the ball lol
I agree, I don’t get why Stetson has the long leash. What did he do today that Mathis couldn’t have done? Not a stretch to say nothing.
Just like there was a problem with Fields?
Kirby has a problem making hard decisions. I wouldn’t read anything into their practice habits. Daniels wasn’t cleared for Arkansas, so he will never be an option. If Stetson had more eligibility, he would start next year over Beck and Vandagriff.
Fromm or Fields was a hard decision. THIS IS NOT!!! This is easy as taking candy from a baby. I think he just doesn’t want everyone to see how wrong he has been!!!
PS. He would rather give the season away I guess!!!

Fun fact. UGA passed for 9.4 yards per pass attempt in that game. Also, they ran it 43 times and passed 14 times. And finally, they won the game, which is the entire point.
Now 9.4 yards per pass would put the team at 12th in the nation IF that was the season average. Sure they could have had more total yards by throwing the ball more but so what? Why throw when you are dominating the line of scrimmage anyway? Throwing slows down the game clock, leads to turnovers, and sacks. Unless your offense is built on passing you don’t throw the ball just for the stat book and to keep know-it-all fans happy.
Hell they are 4-1 and in control of their own destiny.
There are many reasons to NOT start a QB and the first one is you don’t trust him to operate the playbook. Seems to me that UGA ran a limited playbook and put the best QB they had on the field who would not screw things up. Nothing wrong with that. Did anyone notice UGA ran for 215 yards?
4-1.
If I had to guess I would say they didn’t pass more because their QB threw two picks and they couldn’t trust him…
If UGA wants to have a good season then play Bennett… If they want to win a Championship they need someone else..
4-1.
And that means what exactly?
