Tim Tebow knows what it’s like to have an immense amount of pressure on yourself following a national title.
Tebow helped Florida win two national championships from 2006-2008, so he understands the position that Georgia is in this season.
The expectations are high for No. 1 Georgia after two consecutive national titles. There is a lot of pressure on the Bulldogs to perform. Tebow talked about what that reality is like for Georgia football on The Paul Finebaum Show Friday.
“There is a reality to it that we need to try to understand. Itโs hard for people to put themselves in those shoes because they donโt know what itโs like. But there is a reality to that weight, to that pressure,” Tebow said. “I think Kirby Smart is doing a really good job trying to take that weight off of this team, off of the players.
“Because you need to celebrate every win, because thereโs a lot of fan base, and a lot of critics, and a lot of the media that are going to say, โYou didnโt win by as many, you didnโt look as good.โ What Kirby needs to continue to do is what heโs done. Just celebrate every win, just get a W, and give your players a chance to relax. You donโt have to please all the critics. You need to just focus on improving as a team, thatโs what heโs always done, I believe thatโs what heโll continue to do and I think that takes a lot of pressure off his team.”
Kirby Smart can’t make everyone happy, but one thing he can do is keep winning and improving his team.
