Georgia wide receiver and kick returner Mekhi Mews is reportedly set to enter the transfer portal.

Mews was Georgia’s primary return man ultra valuable because of it. Across the 2023 season he put up 155 receiving yards, 402 kick return yards and 202 punt return yards. He housed a punt return for a touchdown against Ball State, which you can find below:

Mews enters the portal with 2 seasons of eligibility remaining after 3 years in Athens.

2023 was Mews’ first season of legitimate action at Georgia, so this move is fairly surprising. The assumption is that Mews wants more time at receiver after finishing with just 13 receptions this past year. Not to mention 9 of those 13 receptions come from just 3 games early in the year.

Mews’ entry into the portal is not official (as in, his name is not appearing in the portal as of 12:45 p.m. 12/7), but once he does enter as expected that will make 8 Bulldogs set to transfer following the 2023 campaign.
