Turns out Will Muschamp is not officially employed by Georgia.

Following a report from Chip Towers of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that suggested otherwise, Georgia has issued the following statement:

“Will Muschamp is not currently employed at the University of Georgia.”

Georgia is not denying that Muschamp has been visiting its football facility regularly, but at this time, the former South Carolina coach is not a member of Kirby Smart’s active Bulldog coaching staff.

Muschamp was dismissed by South Carolina following a 59-42 loss at Ole Miss back on Nov. 14. South Carolina’s decision to move on from Muschamp came just short of his fifth season with the program.

During his time in Columbia, Muschamp had a 28-30 overall record. Prior to landing at South Carolina, Muschamp served as the head coach at Florida and went 28-21 in four seasons.

Muschamp also has experience serving as Nick Saban’s defensive coordinator at LSU and Mack Brown’s defensive coordinator at Texas. He played his college football at Georgia.
