Georgia Tech WR, key contributor reportedly hits transfer portal
Georgia Tech wide receiver Eric Singleton Jr. has entered the transfer portal, a source told ESPN on Monday.
It’s a big blow for the Yellow Jackets, as the sophomore from Douglasville, Ga., led the team in receiving yards in each of the past 2 seasons. Singleton, who will have 2 years of eligibility at whatever school he chooses to transfer to, is expected to be among the top available receivers in this portal cycle.
Singleton was a 3-star prospect in the Class of 2023 and blossomed right away in Atlanta, being named a freshman All-American last fall before having another impressive season as a sophomore in 2024.
The 5-foot-11, 190-pounder paced Georgia Tech with 48 catches for 714 yards in 2023 with 6 touchdowns, which was 1 short of Calvin Johnson’s freshman program record. But that was only the beginning, as Singleton followed that up with 56 receptions this season for 754 yards with 3 touchdowns. He added 131 rushing yards and a touchdown on 21 carries on the way to being named All-ACC honorable mention.
Now, the Yellow Jackets will have a tough time replacing Singleton’s production if he does indeed move on. Singleton had 8 catches for 86 yards and a touchdown in Georgia Tech’s 8-overtime loss to Georgia in the regular-season finale. The week before, he had 5 catches for 106 yards in a victory over NC State.
