2023 NFL Draft: Will Levis makes major push in odds to be No. 2 overall pick

The 2023 NFL Draft is right around the corner. With the No. 1 pick considered essentially locked up, the No. 2 pick has been the topic of an increasingly intriguing debate.
By most expert projections, Alabama’s Bryce Young will be the No. 1 pick for the Carolina Panthers. Nothing is set in stone, but it would surprising if the Panthers went with a different player at No. 1 overall.
As for the second pick in the draft, the betting odds have been shifting back and forth for some time now. For a while, Ohio State quarterback CJ Stroud was expected to be the pick of the Houston Texans before his slide opened the door for Alabama defender Will Anderson.
As of Saturday evening, Kentucky’s Will Levis is the new favorite to be the second overall pick. The Texans currently hold the pick but a trade is certainly not out of the question at this point in the process.
According to DraftKings, Levis is -140 to become the No. 2 pick in the draft per this writing. Texas Tech’s Tyree Wilson (+225), Stroud (+400) and Anderson (+500) round out the top four spots on the current odds.
Will Levis draft outlook
At this point, Houston looks to be the biggest wild card at the top of this year’s draft. For much of the pre-draft process, the Texans were expected to take their favorite pick of the remaining QBs, but that has come into question recently.
In an appearance on The Paul Finebaum Show, ESPN’s Mina Kimes explained how things could get chaotic at the top of the draft if Houston opts to take a defender with Will Anderson. While Levis would not quite be a “chaotic” pick, the Texans taking the Kentucky product — or trading the pick to a team that takes Levis — would turn a few heads.
