Mark Stoops and the Kentucky football program just picked up a massive victory over No. 6 Ole Miss Saturday afternoon.

And Kentucky basketball was watching like all other Wildcats fans across the country. Basketball assistant Mark Fox shared the following video on social media showing the basketball team cheering for the Wildcats’ final touchdown drive to take a 20-17 lead.

Check it out below:

The Wildcats have really impressed across the past few weeks. They danced toe-to-toe with Georgia a few weeks ago and were simply the better team on Saturday in Oxford. Defensively, this may be one of the better units in the SEC.

Now, everyone knows Kentucky is a basketball school through and through. And although John Calipari is gone, the Wildcats are still going to be really strong under new head coach Mark Pope.

Pope doesn’t have the tournament success that a lot of fans wanted to see from their head coach when he was hired, but the former BYU coach knows Xs and Os and runs an exciting offense. And he was being asked to recruit at BYU – not exactly Kentucky in terms of pull for a college basketball program. Continued success in Provo is no small feat, folks.

The Wildcats should be a top 25 caliber program this season. Transfers Koby Brea, Jaxson Robinson, Andrew Carr and Otega Oweh, among many others, should return Kentucky to the NCAA Tournament in Year 1 under a new regime.
