The state of Kentucky is getting fired up for Tennessee’s upcoming visit to Lexington.

So much so, that the Mayor Linda Gorton of Lexington has declared this weekend as “Beat Tennessee Weekend” in the city. That’s one way to welcome the nation’s No. 1 basketball team to town.

In somewhat of an odd twist, Tennessee (23-1 overall, 11-0 in SEC play) is looking down at No. 5 Kentucky (20-4 overall, 9-2 in SEC play) in the current league standings heading into the first matchup between the two teams this season. The Wildcats can significantly close the gap on the Vols by earning a win at home on Saturday after dropping their previous home game against LSU.

Thanks to LSU’s last-second win in Rupp, the Tigers are currently No. 2 in the SEC behind Tennessee. Kentucky is No. 3 in the standings heading into Saturday’s matchup.

Gorton shared her declaration recently on Twitter:
