Kentucky RB Benny Snell was critical of the way some of his teammates performed in a 24-7 loss at Tennessee, which continued a streak at Neyland Stadium that began in 1985.

Snell likely has built up enough equity to make bold claims about teammates, both as a dark horse Heisman Trophy contender this season, and as a veteran on the roster.

Snell had 20 carries for 81 yards on Saturday. The SEC’s leading rusher was held under 100 yards for the third straight game. He also had six catches for 25 yards.

Tennessee continued its dominance in the series, especially at home. Kentucky hasn’t won in Knoxville since 1984, and the Vols have won 32 of the last 34 overall.

Perhaps Snell has grown tired of that history, and aired some frustration after the game.

“I don’t want to say it’s not serious,” he said, “but I feel like on the team, there’s not guys that have that dog mentality, that want it, that are hungry. It was obvious that Tennessee wanted it more than Kentucky, so that’s why the outcome was what it was. We got to eliminate those guys that don’t got that hunger. Or, if you don’t have it anymore, we don’t need you.”
