Benny Snell’s breakout year has been one of the biggest reasons for Kentucky’s surge all the way to No. 13 in the AP Top 25, and his fast start has even generated some Heisman hype.

But how does the Wildcats’ junior running back stack up against other recent standouts at the position? As pictured below, a stat tweeted by the SEC Network on Thursday shows Snell might be primed for even bigger things.

Outpacing Leonard Fournette and Todd Gurley at anything is a major accomplishment given their careers. Fournette was a consensus All-American in 2015 and is currently battling a string of injuries to keep his promising professional career on track, while Gurley is a two-time Pro Bowler and the reigning NFL Offensive Player of the Year.

Snell doesn’t have any accolades like that yet, but his numbers this season have been impressive. Through five games, Snell has rushed for 639 yards on 115 carries (good for 5.6 yards a pop) and eight touchdowns.

If he can maintain this pace, Snell might follow Fournette and Gurley as the next SEC running back taken in the first round of the NFL draft.
