ESPN’s Football Power Index (FPI) predicts the outcome of each college football game each week.
The projections for this week include the Kentucky and Louisville game. The 10-1 Cardinals are having a dream season, and will be hosting the 6-5 Wildcats who have lost five of their last six games.
The Wildcats are coming off of a disappointing 17-14 loss to the South Carolina Gamecocks. The Cardinals knocked off the Miami Hurricanes in a very close, 38-31 win.
FPI gives the Wildcats only a 25.8% implied win probability. This means the Cardinals are big favorites at home, as they have a 74.2% implied win probability.
The Cardinals are led by running back Jawhar Jordan, who has rushed for 1,009 yards this season with 11 rushing touchdowns. Earlier in the year against Duke, he rushed the ball 21 times for 163 yards and 2 touchdowns.
It has been an up-and-down year for Kentucky quarterback Devin Leary, who had big expectations when he transferred from NC State. On the year, he has thrown for 2,234 yards, 20 touchdowns and 9 interceptions. Despite losing 5 of their last 6 games, the Wildcats have an opportunity to ruin a dream season for their rivals.
The Cardinals are favored by 7.0 points at home and the over/under is 50.5. The state of Kentucky rivals will kick off from Cardinal Stadium on Saturday at noon ET.
