Randall Cobb 2.0? That may be coming to Kentucky this season as Lynn Bowden is poised to take over quarterback duties following injuries to Terry Wilson and Sawyer Smith. Bowden is well aware of former Kentucky great Randall Cobb’s career and how it aligns with his this season.

Bowden briefly played QB last week at South Carolina, but has largely only played the position in a “Wild Cat” type formation, or on one-off plays here and there.

“I shot him a text over the weekend, ‘Randall Cobb 2.0′”,” Bowden said of the long-time former Green Bay Packer and now Dallas Cowboy. “He sent me the eyes like QB season. I’m like I don’t know yet. I still keep pace with him, someone I look up to, just being able to be compared to him, like I always say is a blessing.”

The Wildcats are off this week, and return to action next week with a home game against Arkansas.

“My message to my teammates and our fans out there, ‘Don’t avoid us,'” Bowden said. “‘Tough times don’t last forever, tough people do.’ I think this team is full of tough guys, tough coaches, just from top to bottom, trainers, equipment managers. We’ll eventually get it right and we’ll be back.”
