Greg McElroy and Cole Cubelic shared their thoughts on Mark Stoops’ recent NIL comments directed at Georgia during a recent edition of their radio show.

In the wake of Kentucky getting trounced 51-13 by Georgia for its first loss of the season, Stoops called on the fans to even the playing field via their pockets. Stoops expressed that Georgia is stockpiling talent because of its NIL funding.

“Fans have that right (to complain),” Stoops said. “I give it to them. I just encourage them to donate more, because that’s what those dudes (Georgia) are doing. I can promise you Georgia, they bought some pretty good players. You’re allowed to these days. We could use some help…I encourage anyone that’s disgruntled to pony up some more.”

The ESPN analysts expressed it’s a new world for the sport in the NIL era but aren’t surprised by the comments made by Stoops.

“It’s true. The deeper your pockets, the more likely the better your players. It’s not like it’s some mystery on how you improve the quality of your roster,” McElroy said. “Georgia’s NIL collective is really good. Lot of money.”

Cubelic explains that even though some coaches aren’t as candid as Stoops, a lot of his peers are in agreement.

“I was surprised by the amount of people that were either taken aback by this, mad about this, frustrated with this, upset about this,” Cubelic said. “Just because maybe you haven’t heard as many coaches come out and say it in plain view the way that Mark Stoops did, doesn’t mean that it’s not happening and doesn’t mean they don’t feel the exact same way.”

Kentucky will aim to bounce back in the win column when they host Missouri on Oct. 14 (7:30 p.m. EST/SEC Network).
