Kentucky is a 8.5-point underdog in Saturday’s game at Tennessee. Here’s a look inside some of the numbers:
THE GOOD
110.6: Stanley “Boom” Williams is ninth in the SEC in all-purpose yards per game (110.6). Williams became the first Kentucky running back to rush for over 100 yards since Oct. 11 (also Williams). The freshman was named the Wildcats’ starting tailback in Week 10 and has emerged as the team’s leading rusher. Williams faces a tough Tennessee front seven that includes SEC leading tackler A.J. Johnson.
237.4: Patrick Towles has the sixth highest yards per game total in the SEC (237.4). The redshirt sophomore also has 14 touchdowns and six interceptions on 198-of-339 passing. However, Towles has looked less impressive during the Wildcats losing streak, throwing for less than 200 yards in three games.
THE BAD
1997: Kentucky has struggled to stop the run. The Wildcats have allowed 1997 yards and 15 touchdowns in 10 games. Aside from Missouri, Kentucky has given up over 300 rushing yards in each game during its losing streak, including 305 to Georgia in Week 11.
300-100: Joshua Dobbs became the first quarterback in school history to record 300 passing yards and 100 rushing yards in a single game. The dual-threat sophomore provides the best option in Tennessee’s “multiple” (read option) offense. Dobbs looks to continue his success against Kentucky’s struggling rush defense.
645: Tennessee recorded 645 yards of total offense against South Carolina. The Vols looked balanced as both the passing and rushing attacks looked solid. Kentucky will have its hands full against an improved Tennessee offense coming off a bye week.
