JJ Weaver, a Kentucky pass rusher, has a supporter in Jim Nagy of the Senior Bowl, a long-time NFL scout.

Weaver, who represented the Wildcats at SEC Media Days last month, had 3 sacks last season and in his career has played in 35 career games with 16 career starts. He has 120 career tackles, including 23.5 tackles for loss, 9.5 sacks, 10 quarterback hurries, 2 interceptions, 3 forced fumbles and 3 fumble recoveries.

Nagy noted that Weaver has overcome injuries in recent years and added that staffers have told him that Weaver has packed on good bulk this offseason, going from 235 pounds to 254, which should make him even more difficult to block this year.

Sports betting in Kentucky opens next month. Here are details to take advantage of lucrative sportsbook promos and sign-up bonuses.

Weaver has a future in the NFL as an outside linebacker in a 3-4 defense, and Nagy added he “could boost his draft stock significantly this year if turns pass rush flashes into more consistent pressure.”
