John Calipari took a moment this week to sit down and chat with incoming 7-footer Zvonimir Ivisic (7-2), who was recently admitted to Kentucky after a couple months’ admission process. Ivisic committed to Kentucky in August and hails from Croatia.

In true Calipari fashion, the interview was slightly corny. But, there were some interesting nuggets to take away from someone who, if cleared by the NCAA, should make a big impact for the Wildcats this season.

Take a look below:

The Wildcats have a trio of 7-footers on the roster now, though Aaron Bradshaw and Ugonna Onyenso are both dealing with injuries with less than a month remaining before the beginning of the season.

Kentucky opened as the No. 16 team in the country in Monday’s AP preseason poll release, 4th in the SEC behind Tennessee, Arkansas and Texas A&M.

The Wildcats are a fascinating bunch this season. The roster is littered with newcomers, including a horde of 5-star freshmen such as Justin Edwards and DJ Wagner. Reed Sheppard, a 4-star, also looks to be a serious contender for minutes starting out.

But tat’s not all. Antonio Reeves is back and West Virginia transfer Tre Mitchell should be able to make an immediate impact. It’s a new-look team, but one that’s still dripping with talent. If Calipari can fit the puzzle pieces together, the Cats could be as dangerous as any team in America.

Kentucky starts its 2023 season on Nov. 6 against New Mexico State.
