John Calipari has one freshman in mind who will need to step up as Kentucky battles injuries at the guard position.
During Saturday’s pre-game show, Calipari announced that the Wildcats would be without CJ Fredrick and Sahvir Wheeler against Georgia due to injury. Those two players combine to average around 15 points per game with both shooting better than 30% from 3-point range.
In place of Fredrick and Wheeler, Calipari listed true freshman Adou Thiero as a player that will play more and need to step up on Saturday.

Thiero’s a 6-foot-5 combo guard and true freshman out of Leetsdale, Pennsylvania. Thiero was a 3-star prospect in the 2022 recruiting class but was rated as the No. 25 CG nationally per the 247 Sports Composite Rankings.
To this point, Thiero has appeared in just 10 games and is averaging 2.6 points and 2 rebounds per game. We’ll see if he can make an impact on Saturday with the Wildcats missing some pieces on the road.
