Keidron Smith, a former Ole Miss defensive back who entered the transfer portal about 3 months ago, has revealed a commitment to a new program.

Smith, who is a 6-foot-2 210-pounder from West Palm Beach, Florida, is set to play at Kentucky after he played in 11 games in 2021, and made 65 tackles (2.5 for a loss), 2 interceptions, 3 pass breakups and 2 forced fumbles. He had also planned official visits to Missouri, Indiana and Virginia Tech, according to 247Sports’ Chris Hummer. He visited the Wildcats and Tigers as a high school recruit as well.

Smith was considered the nation’s No. 83 transfer overall and, at the time, fourth best uncommitted, Smith is rated a .9000 in the 247Sports Transfer Portal, which equated to the 11th best cornerback in the transfer portal.

It’s the second straight year a player has transferred from Ole Miss to Kentucky after LB Jacquez Jones.

Smith is a Florida native signed with Ole Miss as part of the 2018 class and was a contributor immediately as a true freshman.

The Wildcats are relatively young at defensive back, as Tyrell Ajian is the only senior defensive back on the roster for this upcoming season. Smith brings plenty of experience from Oxford after he appeared in 34 games with 19 starts.

Coming out of high school, Smith was a 3-star recruit.
