Report: Former LSU DB Kelvin Joseph transfers to Kentucky
Former LSU defensive back Kelvin Joseph has found a new college football home.
Joseph has transferred to Kentucky, per a Rivals report. The talented defensive back first jumped in the NCAA transfer portal in May before hopping out and rejoining the team. However, Joseph went back into the portal on July 17, and he’s now headed to Kentucky.
The 6-1, 195-pound corner is a big-time addition for Mark Stoops and the Wildcats program, and it adds to an already loaded projected 2020 defensive. Joseph will have to sit out the 2019 season due to NCAA transfer rules unless he receives a waiver.
Around the time of his reported commitment to Kentucky, Joseph took to social media.

LSU had another defensive back in Mannie Netherly enter the NCAA transfer portal on Monday.
Joseph was rated a 4-star prospect and ranked as the nation’s No. 5 overall safety and the state of Louisiana’s No. 2 overall prospect for the class of 2018, according to 247Sports Composite Rankings.
That seems like a weird landing spot. Good for UK.
Weird ‘R Us
I thought that was the right spot for him. He’ll get good coaching and should be able to start next season. The LSU defensive backfield got a little crowded, so he and Netherly both entered the portal. Joseph is definitely the better player of the two, so an excellent pickup for UK.
I bet your right.
The coaching at Kentucky has proved to be better than that at LSU.
Thanks for stopping by.
You left off the start next season part, which is the biggest aspect of this. The article is about a former LSU player, which is why I’m here. You are just here to troll, as usual.
It’s not when you consider who Mark Stoops is and what he has done at both Miami and FSU for DBs
lol, yea, remember a couple of years ago when Stoops used his infamous 10 man defense against Florida, which resulted in an open wide retriever who walked into the end
zone with the winning touchdown pass?
Have you nothing better to do?
oh, I forgot, that play didn’t really happen.
And let’s not mess up this pep rally.
Just like how stoops didn’t coach some of the greatest defensive backs ever? Right? Stoops has more positives than he has negatives.
Another upcoming positive is crushing your sorry ass Cardinals again
Paris, you know not changing your tampon can cause a severe infection? Get a fresh Kotex and go catch up on Louisville you dumba$$
Kentucky lost their entire secondary last year several were drafted in the NFL
Stoops played secondary at Iowa
It is a great spot for him to land
Hope it works out
Why does it seem weird? He has moved to a team with proven player development and trending the right direction while still playing in the SEC but in the arguably easier division. Not to mention the defense back position is not very deep for us at this point, he’ll be able to make an instant impact in 2020.
Great addition for 2020. Our 2020 recruiting class is coming along nicely as well. Love the job stoops and co. are doing right now. I doubt he seeks a waiver, but will like likely step into a starting role right away next year.
Big pickup for us, awesome news!
Great pickup
Is there a problem with this guy. I noticed he was suspended for their bowl game. We don’t need anyone else’s problems.
I think it was a minor team infraction, nothing serious
I asked the same question but one of the regular LSU posters who keeps up with their team said he appeared to be a good kid. He also said LSU signed several highly rated DBs in the last couple of classes so it sounds like they have a crowed secondary. The timing of the whole thing was a little odd to me but I’m glad to have him onboard as long as he does what the coaches tell him.
Getting him away from Louisiana (his home state) will help move him away from some of the negative influences in his life. I think he’ll get coached well and develop quickly. He’ll see a starting role in 2020 in all likelihood.
You go where you think you can play.
Unless you’re Gunnar Hoak.
Nice one. Not sure what Gunnar was thinking.
I got it… he wasn’t going to be a starter anywhere big, so he might as well be a backup at his dream school.
Paris is a Louisville fan he posts openly on SDS about how much he loves the Cards
You know he actually writes kinda well and is clever in his own weird.
Which kinda shows how sad it is that he wastes his time trolling on SDS message boards. How did one life go so far off of the rails.
Hoak is backing up a quarterback on a team that might have an outside chance at the playoffs. Phil Steele has them in a head to head chance with Michigan to win the Big Ten and projected sixth in the country.
So, he could have stayed at Lexington, been a back up on a team, where he didn’t get a chance last year, even after Bounce Pass Wilson got hurt.
So he transferred to somewhere that he could play huh?
He’s got a better chance to play there than for the Dynamic Duo of Gran and Hinshaw.
And what’s the down side for him going to Ohio State?
Lesser bowl? Smaller crowds?
Well maybe someday he dot the i.
This is huge news for the 2020 team. Xavier will be eligible and if we keep the recruiting class together, big things on defense in the future. Welcome to BBN!
