One of late Kentucky QB Jared Lorenzen’s best-remembered games as a Wildcat was the seven-overtime epic against Arkansas in 2003. It’s only fitting that UK is making this year’s Arkansas game “Jared Lorenzen Day.”
The school announced Thursday that the Oct. 12 meeting in Lexington between the Wildcats and Razorbacks has been designated “Jared Lorenzen Day.” Fans can use the offer code “TWENTYTWO” (Lorenzen’s jersey number) online at Ticketmaster.com to receive $22 off tickets to the Arkansas game in select areas of Kroger Field.
Per the announcement, commemorative rally towels will be distributed at the gates for ticketed fans upon entry. The Lorenzen family and his teammates are also invited to attend and take part in remembering the UK great.
The announcement graphic references Lorenzen’s famous “hell of a game quote.” When the Wildcats trailed the Hogs in the second half, Lorenzen noticed some departing fans and yelled into the stands that they were going to miss “a hell of a game.”
Lorenzen passed in July after battling illness and infection. He was 38.
Kentucky QB Terry Wilson announced plans to wear No. 22 in honor of Lorenzen for Kentucky’s first game.
Proud to announce Jared Lorenzen Day Oct. 12 in Kroger Field. Don’t miss “A Hell of a Game”
