Kentucky fans weigh in on Eddie Gran’s departure, next move for offense
By Keith Farner
Published:
Kentucky offensive coordinator Eddie Gran got a lot of praise last year for assembling a new offense during the season, and getting largely positive results behind versatile QB Lynn Bowden Jr.
But the offense suffered this season and the Wildcats couldn’t find a rhythm as many fans became increasingly frustrated with Gran, and his inability to increase production. Playing different quarterbacks didn’t seem to help, and the inability to develop consistent receiving threats was another problem. Incumbent starter Terry Wilson’s development seemed to plateau even behind what was thought to be a solid offensive line.
The cold numbers are that UK finished last in the SEC in total offense with 311 yards per game, it was 11th in scoring offense, third in rushing offense and last in passing offense.
Gran was reportedly let go on Sunday, and UK fans voiced their reaction to the move, and what’s next:
Eddie Gran gone…hate to celebrate him being fired, but it was time for a change…let’s get someone in here to utilize the potential that the players have #BBN

As critical as I’ve been of Eddie Gran, I appreciate the time he spent at UK.
He developed some really good RB’s and adjusted well to the QB situation last season.
I can’t say I’m sad to see him go, but his efforts are appreciated. #bbn https://t.co/EmXFUnrsgb

Eddie Gran frustrated me to the max but I really hope whoever we bring in gets some freedom in the offense.
I’m not saying that’s been the whole problem but I do think it had something to do with it.

I think Eddie Gran, on the whole, did a great job getting the most out of the pieces he had at UK. https://t.co/h8oIcLs0jT

I’m as hard on Eddie Gran as anyone, but as the season went on it was more and more obvious that Terry Wilson just couldn’t ratchet it up anymore. https://t.co/1UFBXd80Y1

No more Eddie Gran. Maybe 2020 isn’t that bad after all

I liked Eddie Gran and he’s been able to help UK become competive my and gave the Cats an identity. But the lack of a consistent downfield passing game was always going to hold the team back. Move probably for the best for all parties https://t.co/HoPeEmG1Jh
