Kentucky freshman Bryce Hopkins will look at continuing his college basketball career elsewhere. Thursday morning, Hopkins announced he is entering the NCAA transfer portal.

Entering the transfer portal does not bind a player to transferring out, but Hopkins has indicated he plans to leave Kentucky. Hopkins posted a note thanking Big Blue Nation, saying Lexington will always have a special place in his heart.

Hopkins, from Oak Park, Illinois, was rated the No. 8 power forward and No. 39 player overall in the class of 2021 on the 247Sports Composite. He was initially committed to Louisville. When making his second commitment, he chose Kentucky over Cal, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa State, Michigan, Oregon, Providence and Texas.

As a freshman, Hopkins saw playing time off the bench in 2021-22. He logged 60 points over 181 minutes for an average of 2.1 points per game.
