Kentucky quarterback Patrick Towles and linebacker Josh Forrest called a players-only meeting this week, according to running back Mikel Horton.

The meeting reportedly lasted 45 minutes.

The Wildcats started the season 4-1, with their only defeat a narrow 14-9 loss to Florida. But Kentucky has lost its last three games, falling to Auburn, Mississippi State and Tennessee. The Wildcats lost a close game to Auburn, 30-27, on Oct. 15, but their last two losses – 42-16 to Mississippi State and 52-21 against Tennessee – were by at least 26 points.

Offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson thinks the players-only meeting could be a positive thing.

I think it’s a good thing,” Dawson said. “Our kids care. I don’t think it’s bad or good. I think at times everybody, including myself, needs to be set straight. So I don’t think there’s anything wrong with having meetings and having leaders stand up and voice their opinion, not just on a team but in every sector of society. That probably works to the benefit of the group.”

Kentucky (4-4) travels to Georgia this Saturday for a noon game, which will be shown on SEC Network.
