Kentucky added a major piece to its 2024 offensive line on Friday evening.

The Wildcats landed a commitment from former Tennessee offensive lineman Gerald Mincey. He entered the transfer portal earlier this offseason despite playing in all 12 games for the Vols last season. He also started in 6 games for Tennessee during the 2023 campaign.

Mincey began his college career at Florida before arriving in Knoxville, which means Kentucky will be his 3rd SEC program. However, he played sparingly in Gainesville before transferring to Tennessee ahead of the 2022 season.

Here’s his announcement:

Mincey was a 2-year contributor for the Vols who played both right tackle and left tackle. Mincey made 13 starts across the 2022 and 2023 seasons in Knoxville. He figures to have a significant role for the Wildcats up front in 2023.

Mincey is listed at 6-foot-6, 337 pounds. He was a 3-star prospect out of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., back in the class of 2020.

Kentucky has been aggressive in acquiring talent via the transfer portal this offseason. Mincey is the 10th transfer Kentucky has landed so far this offseason. Overall, Kentucky’s transfer class sits at No. 18 nationally, per 247Sports Composite rankings.

Mincey will have 1 season of eligibility remaining.
