The superlatives are piling up for Josh Allen, who is quickly becoming known for being one of the best pass rushers around, and a face for Kentucky’s historic season.

The linebacker on Sunday was named the Walter Camp Football Foundation’s National Defensive Player of the Week among FBS players.

Allen made 11 tackles, including nine solo, two QB sacks which both forced fumbles in the 15-14 win at Missouri. The win clinched Kentucky’s first winning record in the SEC since 1977.

For those who have watched Kentucky this season, Allen’s performance was nothing new.

He leads the SEC and is second nationally in sacks (10) and leads the SEC and ranks third nationally in tackles for loss (14.5). He also has five forced fumbles, which is second in America.

Allen is the fourth player in school history to record 10 or more sacks in a season, and the first since Dennis Johnson in 2001.

Allen’s also done it in crucial situations, as nine of Allen’s 10 sacks this season have come in the second half, including six in the fourth quarter and three in the third.

He will receive plenty of attention this week as the SEC East is on the line when Georgia visits for a 3:30 p.m. kickoff on Saturday.
