Kentucky loses in-state ATH's commitment after visit to rival
A Louisville wide receiver has backed off his pledge to Kentucky after visiting the hometown Cardinals, UK’s in-state rival.
Jordan Watkins made the announcement in a note (below) shared on his Twitter account.
The 3-star Butler product committed to the Wildcats back on June 22. His decommitment follows an Oct. 4 unofficial visit to the Louisville campus.
The 6-foot, 180-pounder is rated the No. 10 recruit in the state of Kentucky, No. 55 ATH and No. 869 prospect overall nationally in the class of 2020 on the 247Sports Composite. Of Watkins’ nine scholarship offers, three are from Power 5 programs (Kentucky, Louisville and Rutgers).
Mark Stoops and his staff still have 16 players pledged for the 2020 class, which ranks No. 22 nationally and No. 10 in the SEC on the Composite.
