Kentucky has made a key change to its coaching staff less than a week before its season opener.

More specifically, Scott Woodward will now serve as wide receivers coach in 2021.

Woodward replaces Jovon Bouknight, who after one season as the wide receivers coach will remain on staff as a quality control analyst.

The move comes on the heels of a turbulent offseason for Bouknight, who was suspended in June without pay by head coach Mark Stoops following a May 8 arrest for drunk driving and speeding, charges to which he later pled guilty.

As for Woodward, he and Kentucky offensive coordinator Liam Coen have a relationship that dates back to their playing days as teammates at the University of Massachusetts, where Woodward backed up Coen at quarterback.

Woodward was ultimately hired for the role that Bouknight was demoted to, a position that he had filled at Pittsburgh the last two seasons.

The Wildcats kick off their 2021 campaign at home against Louisiana-Monroe on Saturday.
