Kentucky OT Jeremy Flax and the Big Blue Wall helped the Wildcats run all over Florida in a dominant 33-14 win this past Saturday. Flax has been recognized for his outstanding performance in the SEC East clash.
The Football Writers Association of America announced Tuesday that Flax is the Outland Trophy’s National Player of the Week for Week 5. A 6-6, 325-pound senior from Detroit, Flax had 5 knockdown blocks in Kentucky’s big victory to extend its winning streak against the Gators to 3 games for the first time since 1951 under Bear Bryant.

UK recorded 329 rushing yards against a Florida defense that had been giving up just 82 rushing yards per outing entering the contest. Ray Davis was the star of the show, rushing his way into the Kentucky record books with a 280-yard performance. Flax and the rest of the line helped Davis go for 15 yards or more 6 times during the thumping of the Gators.
For all intents and purposes, Flax was flawless. He did not allow a sack or a quarterback pressure and didn’t commit a penalty as the Cats ran wild. Flax and the Cats face a big challenge in Week 6 going up against No. 1 Georgia. During Kirby Smart’s tenure, UGA’s defensive front has been one of the nation’s premier position groups.
