Kentucky added a major piece to its 2024-25 roster on Thursday afternoon.

The Wildcats have reportedly earned a commitment from ex-BYU guard Jaxson Robinson out of the transfer portal. Robinson has long been linked to the Wildcats, but didn’t remove his name from the NBA Draft until just before the deadline this week.

The news of Robinson’s commitment comes from ESPN’s Jeff Borzello. Robinson has since confirmed the news in his Instagram story.

Robinson could end up as Kentucky’s best guard next season under Mark Pope. He won 6th Man of the Year in the Big 12 last season for a BYU team that vastly exceeded expectations in the regular season.

Robinson had a breakout year in 2023-24 as he averaged 14.2 points per game. It was the first time in his collegiate career that he’s averaged double-figures. Robinson also shot 42.6% from the floor and 35.4% from 3-point range.

He previously spent time at Texas A&M and Arkansas before spending 2 years at BYU. Robinson, and Ada, Oklahoma, native, will have 1 year of eligibility remaining.

Robinson joins a Kentucky roster that is loaded with transfers. He’ll share a back court with players like Kerr Kriisa, Koby Brea and LaMont Butler Jr. while playing alongside forwards and centers such as Andrew Carr, Brandon Garrison, Amari Williams and others.

Kentucky is currently +3500 to win the national championship next season, according to the latest odds at FanDuel. If you want to bet on the Wildcats this offseason, here’s all you need to know about the best Kentucky sports betting apps on the market.
