Kentucky could be losing a veteran specialist.

Multiple outlets are reporting with school confirmation that kicker Grant Mckinniss has entered the NCAA transfer portal. Mckinniss is not obligated to leave UK by entering the transfer portal but the move allows him to be contacted and recruited by other programs. If Mckinniss does transfer from Mark Stoops’ Wildcats program, he would have immediate eligibility as a graduate transfer having received his degree from Kentucky in December.

Out of Findlay, Ohio, Mckinniss signed with Kentucky in 2016 as one of the top-ranked punters in that recruiting class. He was a Ray Guy Award nominee as a freshman but Matt Panton, an Australian, handled punting duties in 2017 and Mckinniss redshirted. Panton’s success led Kentucky to bring in another Australian punter, Max Duffy, who won the Ray Guy Award in 2019 and enters 2020 as a Walter Camp Preseason All-American.

With Duffy handling punting duties, Mckinniss has handled Wildcats kickoffs the last two seasons. He recorded touchbacks on 61.7 percent of his kickoffs last season.
