South Carolina also comes into the game with a recent win over Georgia this past Saturday. The Gamecocks are now 11-6 this season with a 2-3 record in conference play.

Kentucky vs South Carolina

For the Gamecocks, Chris Silva is the team’s leading scorer averaging just over 14 points per game. Kentucky has two players with similar numbers in Kevin Knox and Hamidou Diallo. Both are averaging roughly 14 points per game so far this season.

South Carolina is coming off of an historic basketball season in which head coach Frank Martin led the Gamecocks to its first ever Final Four appearance. Notable losses from that season include Sindarious Thornwell, and the Gamecocks have struggled to find its footing thus far in the 2017-18 college basketball season. Though, it’s worth noting that before getting hot at the right time in the NCAA tournament, the South Carolina Gamecocks registered nine losses during the regular season plus a quick loss in the SEC tournament (loss to Alabama).

Kentucky is coming off of yet another impressive season in which the Cats lost a close game in the Elite 8 of the NCAA tournament to North Carolina. Prior to the tournament, Kentucky plowed through the regular season with only five losses. Kentucky also won the SEC tournament with victories over Georgia, Alabama and Arkansas.

The 2017-18 Kentucky team is a quality team, but the season is somewhat quiet and unheralded compared to many of the Calipari-era seasons. As always, the team is quite talented and an appearance in the NCAA tournament is expected.
