Mark Stoops must have been busy working the phone lines recently in Lexington as the Wildcats are expected to add two new support staff members to the Kentucky coaching staff looking ahead to the 2019 season.

According to FootballScoop, Stoops is planning on hiring Joe Scola as a defensive analyst and Mark Perry as an offensive analyst. Scola previously worked at FAU under Lane Kiffin while Perry was previously served at the high school level coaching locally at Lexington Catholic High School.

Perry should be a familiar name to Kentucky fans as he was formerly a quarterback at the school from 1997-2000. The decision to hire Perry is additionally interesting considering the Wildcats are currently recruiting Lexington Catholic High School quarterback Beau Allen. The 2020 prospect is rated as a three-star signal caller and currently has offered from Georgia, Duke, Washington State and West Virginia, in addition to his Kentucky scholarship offer.

Due to NCAA rules, however, Perry would have to be promoted to a full-time position on the 10-member assistant staff or let go entirely if Allen signs with Kentucky as FBS programs are currently prohibited from having off-the-field coaches serve on staff that are connected to a high school prospect by two-years.
