During the Wildcats media day Sunday, Mark Stoops announced that talented wide receiver/athlete signee Lynn Bowden is not on campus for the start of fall camp.

Bowden is considered to be the Cats’ top signee in the 2017 recruiting class, and grades are the holdup.

“We’re waiting on Lynn here in the next couple of days,” Stoops said Sunday. “It’s Clearinghouse. It’s academic eligibility.”

The 6-foot-1, 185-pound playmaker from Youngstown, Ohio, is projected to be an immediate impact-type of prospect, assuming he still makes it on campus at some point before the season.

As a high school quarterback in 2016, Bowden threw for 1,366 yards, rushed for 2,277 yards and scored 57 touchdowns. He’s considered to be among the top 100 prospects in the country.

Bowden is slated to be a receiver for the Cats, but he can also play in the backfield and as a Wildcat quarterback.
