Mark Stoops was understanably unhappy with his Kentucky team after a 31-6 home loss to South Carolina, the Wildcats’ 3rd straight defeat in the series.

“We’ve been beaten pretty badly by some pretty good football teams and I felt like we’ve always fought back. Very disappointed, not happy with us, our coaching, our response, or the way we played,” Stoops said, according to FOX 56 sports reporter Colby Wilson. “That’s 100 percent on me, no excuses. We didn’t respond.”

Between Brock Vandagriff and Gavin Wimsatt, the Wildcats completed just 6 of 17 passes for 44 yards, with Vandagriff and Wimsatt each throwing an interception including Vandagriff’s pick-6 to Nick Emmanwori early in the 4th quarter. Kentucky was held to just 2 field goals offensively — punting on their first 4 possessions and turning it over on downs on their 5th.

The Wildcats have a tough task ahead as they welcome No. 1 Georgia to Kroger Field in Week 3. The Bulldogs have won the last 14 meetings between the two programs.
