Mark Stoops and Kentucky were routed by host No. 1 Georgia 51-13 on Saturday. This was the first loss of the season for the Wildcats after starting out at 5-0. Kentucky will aim to bounce back when they host Missouri (5-1) on Oct. 14.

Kentucky quarterback Devin Leary had an up and down showing, as he completed 10 of his 26 passes for 128 yards and 2 touchdowns. This comes a week after Leary had similar issues going 9-for-19 for 69 yards and a touchdown in the 33-14 victory against Florida.

During a recent press conference, Stoops explains the factors for Leary’s recent struggles.

“Sometimes it’s his feet. Sometimes it’s him expecting the receiver to run a route at a different angle. Sometimes it’s just a routine throw he needs to make,” Stoops said. “He doesn’t need me to make excuses for him. He’s a big boy. Has to own it.”

Overall, Stoops added that Kentucky won’t let this loss linger because Missouri isn’t an opponent to take lightly. Missouri also lost its first game of the season last weekend in a 49-39 shootout against LSU.

“We’re not going to tolerate being mopey or being down,” Stoops said. “Better get ready to play because Missouri is a really good team coming here to win.”

Missouri at Kentucky is slated for a 7:30 p.m. EST kickoff and will be televised on the SEC Network.
