Mark Stoops and Kentucky (5-3) will aim to snap a 3-game losing streak when they head to Mississippi State this weekend.

Kentucky is coming off a 33-27 defeat against visiting Tennessee. Kentucky cut the deficit to as low as 2 late in the 3rd quarter but couldn’t come away with the victory. Kentucky quarterback Devin Leary went 28-for-39 with 372 yards, 2 touchdowns and no interceptions in the loss.

Meanwhile, Mississippi State (4-4) fell 27-13 to hand host Auburn its first SEC victory under new head coach Hugh Freeze.

However, Stoops isn’t sleeping on the Bulldogs, especially with Kentucky’s recent struggles in Starkville. Kentucky has never won a game at Mississippi State under Stoops, with an 0-5 mark. The last victory for the Wildcats in Starkville dates back to 2008.

“Traditionally, we’ve had a tough time down there,” Stoops said. “So we need to get that fixed.”

A big part of that will be containing dynamic Mississippi State quarterback Mike Wright. Wright is the current starter in the absence of the injured Will Rogers (shoulder). Wright has passed for 307 yards, 3 touchdowns and 2 interceptions while also rushing for 261 yards and 3 scores.

“He’s a guy you have to keep in the pocket,” Stoops said.

Kentucky at Mississippi State is slated for a 7:30 p.m. EST kickoff (SEC Network).
