Mark Stoops praises Louisville's turnaround ahead of Governor's Cup
Mark Stoops has seen Louisville turn its football program around and become a top team in college football.
The Cardinals have won 10 games for the first time since a decade and they’re looking for their first win over Kentucky since 2017.
“A lot of respect for Coach Brohm and Louisville and the turnaround they’ve done and the team that they have,” Stoop said in his press conference Monday. “Looking forward to going up there and playing for the Governor’s Cup. It should be a great game.”
Brohm took over as head coach of Louisville ahead of this season, and Stoops believes its led to cohesiveness across all aspects of the game.
“They’re better in a lot of areas I think,” Stoops said. “Just very fundamentally sound in all areas. Defensively, playing very aggressive, very disruptive, creating turnovers and negative yardage plays and trying to dictate. And then offensively, just good at what they do. They’re very efficient in the run game. Offensive line, I want to say they’ve had one major change, other than that I think 4 of them have been in all year. You don’t generally see that. Great continuity with their offensive line.”
Kentucky is looking for a big upset over Louisville on Saturday after losing back-to-back games to Alabama and South Carolina.
