Mark Stoops celebrated a huge rivalry win over Louisville on Saturday, but that came hours after he was reported to be in the mix for the Texas A&M opening. Stoops didn’t give the report any oxygen.

“This is a big win for our program and state …,” Stoops said. “I’m keeping the focus and concentration on our team.”

According to The Athletic and FOX Sports’ Bruce Feldman on FOX’s Big Noon Kickoff on Saturday, Stoops is a “name to watch” for the Texas A&M opening. That job came open on Nov. 12 when Jimbo Fisher was fired with 2 games remaining in his 6th season.

Stoops’s 73 wins in Lexington are the most in program history, with the Wildcats registering a pair of 10-win seasons under his tenure (2018 and 2021). His team just beat Louisville for the 5th straight time as the Cats also improved their bowl position.
