What is the best indication that Kentucky football has turned a corner under Mark Stoops? The Wildcats have begun to recruit at an elite level, not only in the SEC, but nationally.

If you haven’t been keeping a close eye on recruiting this cycle, Kentucky currently has the nation’s No. 11 recruiting class, which ranks No. 4 in the SEC, and a top 10 finish can’t be ruled out with several elite prospects still on the Wildcats’ board.

Among those is five-star Georgia defensive lineman Mykel Williams, who is arguably the top prospect on the board for the Wildcats.

How realistic is it that Kentucky manages to lure Williams away from the likes of Georgia and Florida? Well, getting the elite lineman on campus would go a long way towards helping Kentucky’s case and that is expected to happen in June.

According to Zack Geoghegan of Kentucky Sports Radio, Williams is planning to officially visit Kentucky during the weekend of June 25. Williams also has plans to officially visit Southern Cal and Georgia Tech.

The 6-foot-5, 265-pound Williams is rated as the nation’s No. 23 overall prospect and the No. 6 defensive lineman in the 2022 recruiting cycle according to 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Kentucky currently has 10 commitments but none of them are as highly regarded as Williams in the 2022 recruiting cycle.
