The Naismith Trophy on Thursday announced 5 SEC players were among the 30 players from across the country in the running for the men’s college basketball player who achieves great success on the court.

Kentucky’s Antonio Reeves was honored as he’s reached double figures in 22 of the team’s 23 games, including 12, 20-point outings and a season high 30-point burst at Louisville.

Tennessee’s Dalton Knecht is averaging 20.4 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game. He is shooting 47.8% from the floor and 40.3% from 3. In SEC play, he is averaging 26.0 points per game, more than 3.5 more than any other player, and has scored 20-plus points in 9 of 11 games.

Alabama’s Mark Sears leads the SEC in scoring (20.5 ppg), is No. 6 in field goal percentage (51.3) and No. 8 in assists (3.9 apg). He’s one of 4 Division I players and the only Power 5 player who has 465 points, 95 rebounds, 90 assists and 50 3-pointers this season.

Auburn’s Johni Broome averages 16 points per game with 8.6 rebounds and hits 55.5% from the field. He’s one of just 5 players nationwide to be averaging more than 15 points per game paired with 2 or more blocks per game.

Texas A&M’s Wade Taylor IV has 9 20-plus point outings, including a 41-point performance in a road loss against Arkansas. From 3-point range, he’s hitting 30.8%.

Knecht, Broome and Reeves are also on the Wooden Award Late Season Top 20 Watch List, which was revealed Jan. 30.

Purdue’s Zach Edey won last season, while Kentucky’s Oscar Tshiebwe was honored in 2022 for the prestigious honor.
