Kentucky was supposed to go to Las Vegas to play Ohio State in the CBS Sports Classic on Saturday. Now, it’s possible the Wildcats will still be making the trip, but they won’t be playing the Buckeyes.

On Thursday, Ohio State announced that the game had been canceled due to positive COVID-19 tests within its program. The matchup between the Wildcats and Buckeyes is not going to be rescheduled.

However, Kentucky shared that the CBS Sports Classic is working with the team to help find a possible replacement opponent for Saturday. The Wildcats still plan to make the trip to Las Vegas in hopes that they’ll get a new game on the schedule.

It would have been exciting to see Kentucky and Ohio State face off, as both teams are currently ranked in the AP Top 25 poll. The Wildcats are No. 21, while the Buckeyes are No. 15.

The last time these 2 programs met was on Dec. 21, 2019, in a matchup that took place at the CBS Sports Classic in Las Vegas. Perhaps the schools will face off there again in the future.

Although this game is no longer happening, Kentucky could still get a new opponent that makes for an exciting matchup. But for now, it’s unclear who the Wildcats may potentially face.
