Oscar Tshiebwe is 1 of 3 Kentucky Wildcats players invited to next week’s NBA Draft Combine in Chicago. Tshiebwe will be joined by teammates Chris Livingston and Cason Wallace in the Windy City.

It’ll be a big week for Tshiebwe and Livingston, both of whom have decisions to make regarding whether to keep their names in the draft or return to Kentucky for another year.

The complete list of Combine invites was announced Tuesday by the NBA.

There were questions about whether Tshiebwe would get an invite to the Combine. Some thought he could be on the list for the G League Elite Showcase held right before the Combine. Instead, he’s one of the 78 players who will make their way to Chicago for the main event.

Tshiebwe is not currently projected to be drafted in June. He’ll have until May 31 to decide on a return to Kentucky.

Next week will be crucial in making that decision. Tshiebwe will have the chance to work out in front of teams, undergo medical and physical testing, and interview with front office personnel. The same goes for Livingston, who went the same route as Tshiebwe in declaring for the draft while maintaining their collegiate eligibility.

Last season, Tshiebwe averaged 16.5 points, 13.7 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 1.6 steals, and 1 block. He led the country in rebounding for the second straight year and earned a second consensus All-American selection.

“I told him to go for it,” Kentucky coach John Calipari said recently of his message to the decorated big man. “If you want to come back, you can come back, but you’ve gotta go for it. Don’t shortchange yourself.”

His message has been the same for Livingston, who started 26 games as a freshman this past season and really found his groove once the calendar turned to February. The 6-foot-6 freshman wing averaged 6.3 points and 4.2 rebounds on the year.

Wallace is the No. 10 overall prospect on Sam Vecenie’s big board for The Athletic. Livingston is No. 68. Tshiebwe is not on Vecenie’s board, though he does have Kentucky forward Jacob Toppin at No. 98. Toppin did not garner an invite to either pre-draft showcase event next week.

The Combine is scheduled for May 15-21. The 2023 NBA Draft is scheduled for June 22 in Brooklyn.
