Report: Kentucky in ‘great position’ to land Virginia Tech transfer if he doesn’t stay in NBA Draft

The Kentucky Wildcats will be watching the buildup to the 2019 NBA Draft closely, and not just to see where PJ Washington, Tyler Herro and Keldon Johnson end up getting picked.

That’s because Virginia Tech F Kerry Blackshear Jr. will be finalizing his decision. The former Hokie has entered his name in the NCAA transfer portal, but if he gets good reports from the draft process, he could remain in the draft pool.

Should he not get the feedback he wants, though, Kentucky Sports Radio reports that the Wildcats would be a favorite to land his services:

If he doesn’t receive the feedback he’s looking for (and he only has two more weeks to figure that out), sources tell KSR that Kentucky is in a great position to land Blackshear this offseason.

Blackshear is a talented scorer who averaged 14.9 points, 7.5 rebounds and 2.4 assists in 35 games for the Hokies last year.

Should he end up at Kentucky, it would be another great graduate transfer addition for coach John Calipari.
